As part of the end of the year activities slated for this year, the management of UUTH decided to have a football match between the management staff and the nurses. I had actually planned to just stop by for a few minutes and leave the place. I don't know how i got glued to the place. It was so funny seeing the old men and women in the jerseys. There were so many pot bellies and different types of legs and bum bums....lol.
I teased my madam by saying they should play the ball for 90mins and an orthopedic surgeon/consultant who was playing too threatened me by saying that if it was going to be 90 minutes i would join them by all means....hahaha. Me that cannot kick a ball to save my life.
Watching the ball was so much fun. The nurses were really serious and acted like they were a professional football team. They even had a coach. The captain for the management's team was the Chief Medical Director and he actually scored the only goal for the match. Apparently he and the Director of Administration used to play football during their younger years. I found out about that later but it was kind of obvious when they were playing. They looked like they knew what they were doing.
I am glad i eventually stayed. It helped bring a little fun into the lives of people who see a lot of seriousness almost every day. The CMD promised that there would be regular sporting events involving the staff soon and i would like to join in the sporting events (i am so totally not fit). I however need to join a gym and try to work on my fitness first before i disgrace myself.
Here are the pictures. I do hope you enjoy them (unfortunately i was not given a pom pom so i couldn't perform my cheer leading stunts.....lol)
