CHILD BRIDES IN NIGERIA ARE A NO-NO!!!

For those who are not from Nigeria, you might know that some senators (cough…IDIOTS!! *smile) have decided that a female of more than 18years is not old enough for them to take as a wife, they now want to snatch the childhood of some girls.

I am so livid right now. Most of the idiots (I ain’t coughing anymore) are so useless! I can’t believe people voted them in. I am seriously wondering if there were no female senators there when they were voting about this. How can you stay there and want to rob the future of some girls? It is not fair! It is not right!! This ain’t animal farm!! You ain’t higher than anyone!! You are there to serve and steer this country in the right direction not bring us backwards. I am sure they won’t think like cows if they were females. I cannot believe that in the year 2013, some men that should have more brains than a cow are descending so low.

What annoys me is that their daughters would not be affected? No way! Their daughters would go to school abroad and even obtain master’s degree. It would be the poor people who have no voice that would be affected.

Fortunately most people are saying no to this barbaric decision. I have faith that when Nigerians get together we can drown this stupid rule. People are signing petitions all over the country and I wish I could sign up too. A friend of mine said she didn’t sign the petition because it is not specifying what age the limit should be. That she is a supporter of early marriage not underage marriage. For the love of God, early marriage is different from underage marriage.  Marrying at age 10 is cruel. I believe if the legal age for voting is 18, then the minimum age should be 18 and I think it is what everyone is supporting. A girl should marry as an adult not a child!! As a child she should be playing with a teddy bear or a doll not her child!! #angryface. I can just imagine if I was given out as a bride when I was a child. This is just mean!!…Arggggghhhhhhh!!

Someone also said that some people in the west (because the decision originated from a northern senator that I won’t tell you what I think of him cos I am so angry right now) are getting pregnant at a very young age. And to that I say BULL***T!! It is their choice to get pregnant! It is different from being forced!! You can’t compare the two, at all.

As human beings we have a right to choose. The right to choose is what makes us different from animals. If they chose to get pregnant at a young age due to some wrong information then it is unfortunate but to make underage marriage legal is just off, way off!! It is a different ball game.

A lot of people have rained curses on the senators and I know that some would soon manifest in their lives. I am also confident that the senators (all of them) would have to reverse their decisions because Nigerians can be ruthless when we come together and this is bringing us together. And we would achieve this! I know my future girls would never, ever be a child bride but I am fighting for their friends and all girls in my beautiful country!

I might not be able to march or was not able to sign the petition but I am determined to do all I can to show my support for the reversion of the rule and my disgust for underage marriage. And I am not talking from both sides of my mouth; I am clearly saying NO TO CHILD BRIDES! #Childnotbride

Well, that is all for now. Actually that is all for a long while. I am going to be absent for a while. I would miss writing and you guys but I know that when I come back I would be back better than ever. #kisses guys……

ANOTHER DIVA'S RAMBLING

Okay, it is time for another diva’s rambling which is basically a post on a lot of things with no specific topic. So I finally did my hair today……whoop! Whoop!!*Dancing. I made the Ghana weaving/braids that I said I would do and my braider was really understanding. She understood the fact that I wanted my front hair left out a bit so that my hair doesn't cut. The Ghana weaving or cornrows are not tight at all. Found out that she has noticed that holding the front hair tightly cuts hair. Hey, did I tell you guys that my braider has been doing my hair since I was about 7 or 8 year old. It is amazing that she is still in our lives (my mum and I, my mum does not do her hair with any other person) after all these years.

I tried the lipstick and eye shadow i got yesterday. Surprisingly the eye shadow was not grainy at all. I have some eye shadows that I bought that are more expensive than it that are so grainy and irritate my eyes. As for the staying power of the eye shadow, I can’t say how long it stayed because I didn’t really concentrate on checking it as I was sitting my butt for almost 5 hours…….Aaaaarrrgggghhhhh! That is why I hate braiding, it takes too long.

Yesterday when I wanted to get my big comb (which is wonderful by the way, less breakage was experienced when I was detangling…*Dancing), the seller was not around. Her neighbor told me how much the comb cost and someone else collected the money for her….surprising uhn? I almost left her stall when i noticed she was not around since in uyo, people would ignore you but you see, this is Lagos where they watch each other’s back. Uyo (Akwa Ibom) traders, take note!

This is a heads up for you guys. I don’t know if I would be able to write any post before I leave but I would soon travel and I won’t be able to take my laptop so I would be M.I.A for a while. If I can have access to a computer and internet and I have time I would try to write something. I won’t be away from my laptop for about 2 weeks but don’t worry when I am back I would make it up to you. I plan on having my VERY FIRST GIVEAWAY…… Yay!!

I would ask a question and the first person to answer it correctly would get a gift from me. I would give you a clue and show you the item that I plan to give and the winner would have it sent to your address. However only those residing in Nigeria would be eligible. I am so sorry that I won’t be able to send it to anybody that resides outside Nigeria.

Well, that is all for now. I hope you guys are excited about my giveaway, I know I am. Watch this space for more details.

Luv ya,
Petite Diva.

(CHEAP) MINI HAUL FROM BALOGUN MARKET, TRADE FAIR COMPLEX….

Mini Haul

So I have been home for almost a week now and I have not stepped outside my house except to go to church on Sunday. I had to go out today to get money and also to buy braid extensions for my hair. Since I have been carrying my natural hair for almost 5 weeks (I have been wearing a wig) which is a major deal for me, I don’t like wearing wigs for more than 1 week.

So after getting my braid extensions and my mother’s weave (my mother has used Lagos sense for me…lol), I was leaving the market when I saw some people bent over some goods selecting stuff and as usual, Mowunmi (in case you don't know, that is me) couldn’t pass and go, I had to see what was on sale. And I got some really cheap stuff, I am not sure whether they are original or fake but since I didn’t spend more than 200 naira on them, I am good.

So here is my mini haul:
·     Amigos Super Star extensions: I got them in colour 33 which is kind of a wine colour and I want to use them for Ghana weaving with braids. Ghana weaving usually causes the hair on my hairline to cut but I am going to instruct my braider to leave some hair. It would not be neat but that is why I got my next item. 2 packs cost 770 naira.

·        Crystal Styling gel: What caught my eye with this gel was the fact they claimed that it contained no alcohol. Then it is supposed to be fast drying and cause no flakes. It also contains protein (Hydrolysed wheat protein). I turned to back and guess where it was made? U.S.A!! It is made by J.F labs Inc, Chicago, IL. They might have removed the original gel and put a fake gel but I am going to believe that they are too busy to do that and believe I got a great deal. It cost me just 50 naira.

·    Clueless Lipstick: You know Clueless as in Clueless, the movie. Apparently the lipstick is one of the movie’s promotional items. I didn’t even look at the name when I got it. I just wanted a really neutral/brown lipstick. It was when I was taking the picture of the lipstick, I turned to the ingredient list and saw ‘TM & Paramount Pictures All Rights Reserved’ and I was like ‘When did Paramount pictures start producing lipsticks?’. Turning back to the front, I saw ‘Clueless’. That is when it clicked. Let’s hope the lipstick is a colour I can rock because from the swatch I did, I am not impressed. Oh well, if I can’t rock it, I would either give it to my mum or the trash bin would hold it. It cost 50 naira too…..#smiling.

The Lipstick Swatch
·        Wide tooth Comb: for black hair, small toothed combs are a no, no. The wider and smoother the teeth are the better for your hair. I had a big comb but it wasn’t as wide as I wanted. I am happy that I bought the comb. It means less breakage for me when I am detangling and it cost 100 naira…….Yay!!#dancing

The old and the new (can you notice the difference....)
·    Needme Lip Pencil: It is a wine coloured lip pencil. I plan on rocking this with plain lip gloss, neutral liquid lipstick, a plum lip gloss and just playing with it. The beauty of make-up is that you can play with colours so I am going to play with my lip liner……#Grinning. It cost 50 naira.

·      Nail dissolver: I was looking for a cheap nail polish remover but I could only find this. There was no way I was going to spend so much on a nail polish remover when I have a very expensive one back in uyo. I just needed to remove the old polish on my toes. I plan on getting a manicure and pedicure from an expert very soon (I am very excited, it would be my first ‘professionally’ done mani and pedi). Anyway, the dissolver was not it at all, it made my nails white. I won’t be using it again. It cost 50 naira.

·     Black Radiance Eye shadow: it is supposed to be black radiance but I seriously doubt it. However since I am more familiar with the foundation of black radiance I cannot really say if it is a fake. However before I use on my eyelids, I would swatch it on my hand for a while and see if I react to it or if it is grainy or loose. Because if it is loose or grainy, it could irritate my eyes. It cost 50 naira.

That is all about my mini haul from balogun market. I seem to need a refresher tour for the market. I forgot where some places used to be and kept taking the wrong turn, anyway I got my groove back before I left the place.

I gotta run, guys. I am hungry……#smiling. Hope you have a great day.

Luv,
Petite Diva.

P.S: Thank God after 6 days of calling their customer care office, airtel finally credited my modem with the 3GB (night plan) that they owed me. In fact they gave me 3.81GB, I wonder why? I am not complaining though. I can’t wait for it to be 9pm and I can start browsing heavily.

RADIO STATIONS IN LAG……..DA BOMB

It has been a long time but I feel like I was never away. The radio stations in Lagos are a way to never feel bored. The music is off the hook and the best part is that they are sooooo many stations so when one is having a program that I don’t like, I switch. That doesn’t happen in Uyo, I am stuck with only planet 101.1 fm radio station and before they came into existence, i was stuck with none.

Right now I am listening to cool fm (96.9), they are asking people if they are expressive or quiet in their relationships? And the presenters are kidding about in the studio and I am laughing like crazy. It has been a long time I had so much fun listening to a radio stations. I actually want them to talk more than play songs and I usually don’t want to listen to presenters talk but play the songs but they are so much fun.

Anyway, I just wanted to write a post and this is what I could think of as I am not really inspired right now. Oh well, hopefully I would be inspired tomorrow and write a spectacular post.

Going to listen the Cool Fm presenters’ talk and play… Bye

Luv,
Petite Diva
