WASH DAY (25/7/14): MOISTURIZING WASH (HAIR POST)

I really love wash days. I don’t know if it because of the water or because on wash days I feed my hair with lots of goodies and my hair is getting what it needs to grow to be long and healthy. Any whoo, it is another wash day and because I have been bombarding my hair with different types of protein lately I decided it was time to set the protein aside. Hence I did what i called a moisturizing wash.

Here is what I did and what I used:
  1. I applied hot oil on my scalp and Emily Millionaire Coconut oil and herbs cream on the length of my hair. Covered with a plastic bag and a shower cap and left it on my head for 30 minutes.
  2. I washed with my diluted VO5 shampoo (a sulfate based shampoo) remembering to only scrub my scalp with the pads of my fingers and squeeze the suds of the shampoo along the length of my hair. This helps prevents tangles which could lead to breakage.
  3. I conducted a tea rinse. I had left 2 bags of lipton black tea to steep in about 2 cups of hot water before going to work in the morning. I poured the tea on my hair and allowed it to run down in a bowl then poured it again on my hair. I squeezed the tea from my hair and covered with a plastic bag and a shower cap and left it on for 20 minutes. This is the first time I would leave the tea on my head for that long but I saw a pictorial which suggested it and decided to try it. Black tea because of the caffeine helps to prevent shedding. It is also said to darken the hair. My hair felt hard after I removed the plastic bag/shower cap.
  4. I applied my moisturizing deep conditioner which is basically Organics Cholesterol Tea tree Oil conditioner (made by Africa’s best) mixed with Eucalyptus oil, castor oil, argan oil, amla oil and some other oils. I love this deep conditioner. Since I started my hair journey I think I have bought about 5 of it (I just bought another 426 gram jar, I hope when I go to Lagos I can get the 2.5kg one that a friend of mine got), it is just amazing for my hair. Here is a review that uzoma of donttouchthehair.com wrote. I left the conditioner on my hair for 45 minutes and detangled with my wide tooth comb. My hair felt so soft.
  5. I rinsed and wrapped my hair in my micro fibre towel for about 10 minutes. Allowed to hair dry till my hair was about 50% dried then applied my protein (Vitale Olive oil anti breakage leave in conditioner) and moisture based (profectiv daily leave in strengthener) leave in. I then detangled and allowed to air dry.
  6. When my hair was about 80% dried, I applied my moisturizing lotion, oil and my whipped shea butter and allowed to dry before packing my hair in a bun.
My specially made whipped shea butter

That is how things went down on my wash day. I love the way my hair feels. I don’t want to install a protective style but I have to do so. I have been placing my hair in boring buns all week and I am up for a new style. Now cornrows or weaves? That is the question?

I just noticed that I have never done a real review on all the products I have used. I only let you guys know about my wash day steps so I have decided that any time I wash I would do a review on one of the products used (except my oils) and let you know how I use it and why I either love or hate it. I am trying to check out how other bloggers write their reviews so that I can use their format and do a good job. So watch out for my review.

If you don’t know where to get hair products that are original you can check out konga.com (just click on the ad below and go to the beauty, health and personal care then hair care treatment section of the hair centre column). There is a wide variety of hair products and it is so convenient you can order all your products at once there (they even have products not regularly seen in the hair stores or supermarkets).

That is all for now folks. Thanks for stopping by. Did you guys notice anything new about my blog? Yep! I have added new ads. I am now working with a new company and I am so proud to have their ads on my blog so guys you are permitted to click away and buy things on my expense….lol.

Luv ya,
Petite Diva

    1. You can use them for both. I used to do almost the same steps when i was a natural (i never used emily coconut oil cream). The only thing i noticed with my texlaxed/relaxed hair is that i need more protein because of the effect of the chemicals in the relaxer on my hair strands.
