DEDICATED TO A FIERCE FEMALE………FATUM ONHEROWN

I had wanted to write this piece a long time ago but I kept getting distracted. By what, you might ask. Like I said in my previous post, I have decided to revert to my non-relaxed hair so I have been researching on what to use to grow healthy hair, when to use them, what not to put or do to my hair and what to do to make it grow. I have watched so many you tube videos, seen some good stuff and seen some crap too. I have started buying a lot of junk aka good stuff for my hair, I really hope I don’t go overboard with it.

Also I have started having a strong urge to bake but I can’t bake yet as I am ‘gas ovenless’. However that has not stopped me from watching some videos on the net. I just love watching them bake and remembering all the times I used to bake and sell cakes in school. It is funny, I started baking when I failed my jamb exam and had to do it again and now it is a great love of mine. Talk about life throwing you lemons and you turning it to lemonades (Does anyone know how to make lemonade? I am gonna check youtube….*grins)

Anyways back to my fierce friend, a true wonderwoman, Fatum onherown (that is not her real name). Fatum and I attended Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Ojo for a whooole 6 years. The unique thing about us is that we are kinda of the same physical build though she definitely weighs more than I do and she has a great skin color and hair to die for.

After school, we lost contact until I saw her at a pharmacy when I was undergoing my internship training. I immediately recognized her and remembered her name and folks, after 6 years for me to recognize you and remember your name that is an earth scattering event. I am soooooo terrible with names, I am better with faces but it takes a while before I can place where I met the person. I don’t know if it is my memory or me and my sometimes ‘fake snobbish’ attitude. However it was easy for me to remember because she was part of the people i flowed with in school.

Anyways I also saw that she had a cute baby. What surprised me about her was that she said ‘you actually became a pharmacist’. She remembered that I had said that I wanted to be a pharmacist. I was so touched that she remembered. She eventually left the pharmacy and we reconnected on facebook and twitter.

My friend is a fighter. She has beaten a lot of odds in this life. She is a sickle cell anaemia patient and she continues to amaze me with her strength. She has so much thrown her way with her SCA and the death of her sister and so much more and she is a wonderful survivor. She has a blog and when I read her stories, I am in awe of her strength. I feel so motivated by her life and the way she is handling all that life has thrown her way. I look at my life and I wonder why I act the way I do. I have had my challenges but compared to hers, mine seem like child’s play.

She is a firm reader of my blog, checking up on it even when I don’t broadcast about a new post, she leaves comments and supports me. She is my personal blog/writing critic. I would like to talk more about her life but I think it is best for you guys to check out her blog for yourself. I really hope you guys are super inspired by her life. You would also see cute pictures of her daughter (that I am trying to steal….shhhhh, don’t tell her that o).

So here is her blog address http://onceuponafatum.blogspot.com. She absolutely writes so much better than I do, so if you love reading my blog (which a lot of you say you do) then you would love hers.

Fatima, you are a blessing to this world and I am so glad that I know you. You would live to achieve your dreams. You would inspire loads of people. No matter what comes your way I know that you are stronger than it, heck you are a NAVY GIRL and you know we 'navy girls' are fierce and fab too…..lol. I love you to bits and you still owe me a tour of Egypt (wait o! I hope you know that you have to come back whenever I am doing my wedding. I am officially telling you that you would be one of my bridesmaids……*winks). Remain blessed girl.

That is all for now folks (I have to go back to searching for the best protein treatment mixture for afro hair. Can you imagine that I have bought egg mayonnaise, hair mayonnaise, olive oil, amla oil and now,i want to make coconut oil for my hair? (HAIR! HAIR!! YOU MUST GROW O!)….lol

Luv ya guys,
Petite Diva.
