Hey guys, happy Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim peeps. I hope you guys are enjoying your holidays.
As for me, I am really enjoying this holiday. I can't remember when I have had 4 free days (apart from strike periods) correction, I HAVE NEVER HAD 4 FREE DAYS. I am always on call on one of those days. I think I was spared because my people didn't know there was going to be any holidays (but I knew and didn't say anything so that I don't get placed on duty).
Anyway I am freeeeee....*dancing*. So what have I been doing? Hmmmmm, I am such a boring girl but I like it. I have been researching on something I need to do, I have arranged things that I needed to clear in my room and I made awesome hibiscus tea (that is Zobo o). I am presently washing and treating my hair.....yaaayy!!!
I know right, booorrrinnngggg. But it allows me to rest joor. So do you guys want to how I prepare my awesome zobo.
Well it is basically the same way zobo is prepared but I added some secret okay not so secret ingredients. I placed the washed leaves in a pot, added previously soaked grated fresh ginger plus water to the leaves. I added a lot of water because I was not planning on adding so much liquid after.
When it had boiled I switched off the heat, let it cool down for some minutes. I then strained through a fine meshed sieve. I added about 30mls of honey and 45mls of an orange drink (I used boom drink) then I added 250mls of a pineapple juice (because I did not get fresh pineapple before starting the preparation).
Well that is how I made my awesome zobo. It was amazing. I thought I would need sugar but surprisingly I didn't. I guess the honey, orange drink and pineapple juice added the right amount of sweetness. The ginger flavour and taste was what I loved most. I initially thought it was too much when adding it but it was just perfect for a fake Yoruba girl like me....lol. Just perfect!
